It stands approximately 1,918 meters above sea level and is one of the prominent peaks in Phrao District. Its high ridge landscape offers expansive 360-degree panoramic views of Chiang Mai's intricate mountain ranges, including parts of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces on clear days.

The Doi Mon Lan area has been developed into a Royal Initiative Highland Agricultural Development Station to restore headwater forests, conserve natural resources, and promote agricultural careers for highland communities. This involves research, experimentation, and promotion of suitable winter crops, economic plants, and temperate fruit trees, such as macadamia, Arabica coffee, avocado, plums, persimmons, and various winter flowers.

How to Get There

• From Chiang Mai city, take Highway No. 1001 (Chiang Mai–Phrao) passing Doi Saket District, heading towards Phrao District, approximately 90 kilometers. Upon reaching Phrao District, continue to Pa Tum Sub-district and enter the route up Doi Mon Lan. The uphill section is steep, winding, and some parts are concrete alternating with dirt roads. A vehicle in good condition is recommended, especially a pickup truck or a 4-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle. Drive with caution, especially during the rainy season and at night. Tourists without a 4WD vehicle can contact local rental services from Phrao District to go up the mountain.
