Koe Jae Thae (Koe Jae Thae), or what many tourists call Grand Canyon Namon (Grand Canyon Namon), is located in Ban Namon, Mueang Haeng Subdistrict, Wiang Haeng District, Chiang Mai Province. It is a natural attraction that is not yet widely known, but has been designated as one of Unseen Chiang Mai due to its distinctive landscape resembling a miniature grand canyon.

This area was formed by geological processes over hundreds of years. The layers of soil and rock were continuously eroded by rainwater, currents, and wind, resulting in steep earth cliffs, earth pillars, and large, deep gullies with naturally varying shapes. Some spots resemble natural rock walls and self-formed earth archways, creating a unique and beautiful landscape.

The word "Koe Jae Thae" is in Pwo Karen (Karen) language, meaning "high earth cliff" or "earth cliff face". This reflects the distinctive geographical features of the area and also the long-standing bond of the ethnic community living in harmony with nature.

The charm of Koe Jae Thae lies in the colors of the soil layers, ranging from orange, red, brown, and yellow. When illuminated by the sun in the morning or evening, beautiful dimensions of light and shadow are created, making it especially suitable for landscape photography, nature viewing, and capturing rare wide-angle shots in Chiang Mai Province.

The surrounding area is also rich in dipterocarp forests, pine forests, and natural forests that remain abundant. Tourists can experience a tranquil atmosphere, breathe fresh air, and admire the beauty of the naturally formed landscape, which differs from typical tourist attractions.

Currently, Koe Jae Thae is not crowded with tourists, making it suitable for those who enjoy nature tourism, short trail exploration, photography, and those looking to discover new attractions in Wiang Haeng District. How to Get There

• From Chiang Mai city, take Highway 107, passing Mae Taeng and Chiang Dao districts. Turn left at Mueang Ngai intersection onto Highway 1178 towards Wiang Haeng District. Continue to Ban Namon, Mueang Haeng Subdistrict. The final section is a local road with some dirt sections. A pickup truck or SUV is recommended. Use Google Maps in conjunction with asking local residents for directions.
