“Experience the magical fisherman’s lifestyle in Koh Chang’s largest bay, featuring a red wooden bridge that stretches through a mangrove tunnel to expansive views of the Gulf of Thailand.”

Salak Phet Village is a destination that most clearly reflects the memories of Koh Chang’s past. Located at the southernmost tip of the island, this community has a long history dating back to the reign of King Rama V. Geographically, it is a large heart-shaped bay surrounded by steep mountain ranges on nearly all sides, acting as a natural wall to protect against strong monsoon winds. The calm waters of the bay make it a natural nursery for marine life and one of the most important fishing ports in Trat Province.

What gives Salak Phet its enduring charm is the Salak Phet Mangrove Nature Trail, also known as the "Red Bridge." This wooden bridge stretches over 1 kilometer through dense mangrove forests that look like a lush green tree tunnel. Along the way, tourists can observe biodiversity, including sesarma crabs, mudskippers, and various bird species, before ending at a viewpoint overlooking the vast bay. This is the spot to witness the most beautiful sunrise on Koh Chang, with Koh Mapring and Koh Laoya standing majestically in the

The village atmosphere remains simple, with houses built over the sea and connected by wooden bridges the lifeblood of the community. Visitors can experience the fisherman's lifestyle up close, from mending nets to processing seafood using local wisdom, such as the uniquely fragrant Salak Phet shrimp paste or the famous salted threadfin fish. Additionally, there is the Ruea Mad (Gondola-style boat) activity, featuring beautifully decorated traditional rowing boats that take tourists to absorb the tranquility of the winding canals along the mangroves, offering a relaxing and romantic experience.

For those who love art and culture, Salak Phet Temple is the spiritual center, featuring beautiful architecture and a small museum displaying ancient artifacts and stories of King Chulalongkorn’s royal visits. Couples and friends seeking a Slow Life vacation often choose waterfront homestays to wake up to morning fishing scenes and enjoy "Boat-to-Table" fresh seafood dinners amidst the gentle sea breeze throughout the night.

oday, Salak Phet Village has evolved into a model for Green Tourism, focusing on sustainability and local engagement, including waste upcycling and marine environmental protection. Thus, every step of your journey here is not merely a vacation, but a contribution to preserving this invaluable heritage. If you wish to flee the clamor of city lights and noise to return to the melody of nature and the rhythm of your own heart, Salak Phet Village is the ultimate destination.
