“A strategic narrow pass, "Pratu Wua," perfect for ambushes in the past, along with the courageous tales of Death Bridge and the mysterious terrain, now a scenic roadside viewpoint.”
Death Bridge (Pratu Wua) is one of the most historically significant locations along the route to Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park, once serving as a major battlefield during 1967–1982. It functioned as a “frontline barrier” before reaching the strongholds of the Communist Party of Thailand.
The name “Pratu Wua” (Cow Gate) comes from the narrow and steep mountain passage resembling a natural gateway, while “Death Bridge” reflects the tragic events where government forces were ambushed from elevated rock formations, resulting in heavy casualties. The terrain—compressed by cliffs and dense forest—created a severe tactical disadvantage.
Today, the area has transformed into a მშვიდ and quiet roadside stop and viewpoint. In the early morning, mist often drifts through the mountain pass, creating a mysterious and reflective atmosphere that contrasts deeply with its violent past.
This destination is ideal for history enthusiasts, students, and travelers interested in Thailand’s political past, as well as those exploring the scenic Highway 2331 who wish to add historical depth to their journey.
A visit to Death Bridge is more than just sightseeing—it is a moment to reflect on the past, appreciate the present peace, and remember the cost of conflict that once took place here.
