“Experience the way of life in an old fishing village, admire the large horseshoe-shaped bay with calm waters almost all year round, a hub for fresh seafood, and a departure point for longtail boats to secret beaches.”
Chalok Lam Beach is located on Koh Phangan, Surat Thani Province. It is a large, semi-circular beach, more than 1 kilometer long on the northern side of the island and about 15 kilometers from Thong Sala Pier. The deep bay recessed into the land creates a natural windbreak, making it a safe haven for fishing boats during storms and becoming the most important fishing port on Koh Phangan.
Ecosystem and Beach Characteristics
The seawater here is clear, beautiful blue, and relatively calm almost all year round, ideal for swimming and relaxing. The beach is wide with slightly gray-toned sand due to fishing activities, but still retains its natural and peaceful atmosphere, perfect for strolling and enjoying the horseshoe-shaped bay view.
Seafood and Community Economy
It is an important source of fresh and dried seafood on the island, such as dried squid, seerfish, and fresh seafood from boats that arrive every day. Restaurants in the village use fresh ingredients, resulting in an authentic taste of the sea at affordable prices.
Activities and Tourism
Chalok Lam Beach is the starting point for both Scuba Diving and Snorkeling. There are several diving schools, and it is a departure point for longtail boats to secret beaches such as Bottle Beach and Koh Ma, taking only 10–15 minutes.
Culture and Local Charm
This community still maintains its traditional fishing lifestyle, such as repairing nets, drying fish, and going out fishing. Tourists can walk around the village and experience the way of life up close.
