“A secret beach with clear emerald waters, tranquil and private, ideal for snorkeling near the shore, with stunning views of Koh Ma from a unique perspective.”
Thong Lang Beach is a hidden beach on the north side of Koh Phangan that retains its pristine natural beauty. Characterized by a small bay surrounded by mountains and lush forests, the overall atmosphere is tranquil and very private, distinctly different from the island's popular beaches.
A key highlight here is the clear emerald green seawater, which is calm almost year-round due to the bay's structure protecting it from waves and wind. This makes it perfect for swimming and relaxing in a chill atmosphere, especially during high tide when the water level is just right and very clear.
In terms of ecology, Thong Lang Beach is considered one of the best spots for preserving shallow water coral reefs on Koh Phangan. The reef is located only a few meters from the shore, where you can find small marine fish such as damselfish, butterflyfish, and clownfish in some areas. Snorkelers can begin exploring the underwater world immediately without the need for a boat.
The beach is a mix of fine sand interspersed with rocks and coral fragments in some spots, so choose your entry point into the water carefully. The side of the bay has areas that are particularly clear and calm, making them ideal for snorkeling.
Another special feature is the view of Koh Ma that can be seen from certain points on the beach, providing a dimensional sea view different from the popular angle at Mae Haad Bay. This is perfect for photographers and those who like to collect secret locations.
Due to limited access requiring walking, boat or kayak, there are almost no amenities, shops, or commercial water activities, truly maintaining its status as a "secret beach". It is perfect for relaxing, reading a book, meditating, or spending time quietly with nature.
The best time to visit is from late morning to afternoon (around 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM), when the sunlight hits the water, creating a bright emerald color, and high tide is most suitable for swimming and snorkeling.
