“Baanthep Museum features thousands of rare antiques from Thailand, China, and Europe, highlighted by Ming–Qing furniture, a golden teakwood house, and a life-size statue of King Naresuan the Great.”

Baanthep Museum is a private museum located in the heart of Phrae Old Town. It was founded by Mr. Wattana Lueanguthaisilp and is currently managed by Mr. Kritsada Lueanguthaisilp, both deeply passionate about teakwood architecture and antique art objects. The collection has been carefully preserved for over 30–50 years, with the aim of passing on historical and cultural values to future generations.

Inside the museum, visitors will find an extensive display of rare antiques, including Ming and Qing dynasty chairs, ivory-carved scripture cabinets, bronze kettle drums, frog gongs, antique clocks, and a wide variety of traditional silverware. Each piece carries its own story and significant artistic value.

Architecturally, the building is constructed almost entirely from golden teakwood, adorned with delicate hand-carved details. The structure clearly reflects Phrae’s identity as the historic “City of Teakwood,” creating an atmosphere that is both dignified and warmly inviting.

Another important highlight is the sacred worship area, where a lifelike statue of King Naresuan the Great is enshrined. Visitors often come to pay respects and pray for success in career advancement, leadership, and personal progress.

In addition to the museum, Baanthep also offers accommodation under the name “Baanthep Antique Homestay.” Each room is decorated with classic antiques, allowing guests to immerse themselves in an authentic nostalgic atmosphere and experience life surrounded by history.
