“A panoramic viewpoint combined with samurai exhibits, ukiyo-e displays, Edo costume rentals, interactive floors, and extensive free play facilities for all ages.”
Atami Castle is a spectacular replica fortress constructed in 1959 (Showa 34) and built solely for tourism rather than historical military use. Located approximately 160 meters above sea level, it commands an exceptional vantage point overlooking Atami City, Sagami Bay, and the surrounding coastline. Although modeled after the architectural style of the Momoyama period, the castle integrates modern museum spaces and recreational facilities, offering a uniquely broad visitor experience.
The 6th-floor observation deck is the star attraction, providing 360-degree panoramic views. From this height_, visitors can admire not only Atami City but also Yugawara, Shinsuru Peninsula, Hatsushima, and Izu Oshima. On clear days, the vista extends astonishingly far—enough to see Tokyo Skytree and Yokohama Landmark Tower in the distance. The deck offers numerous designated photo spots, ideal for capturing breathtaking coastal landscapes.
