Shibuya Station is one of Tokyo’s busiest stations and a central hub for travel across the city. It provides services from four main railway companies, making it a complete transportation center:

1. JR East (Japan Railways East)

• Yamanote Line (山手線): Tokyo’s key loop line connecting Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Ueno, Tokyo, and Shinagawa (platform on elevated level – Elevated Platform)

• Saikyō Line (埼京線): Runs north–south through Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Ikebukuro to Saitama and connects to Odaiba via Rinkai Line (platform at ground/slightly below ground level – Ground Level)

• Shōnan-Shinjuku Line (湘南新宿ライン): Connects northern regions such as Saitama and Gunma with southern regions like Yokohama and Kamakura without transferring at Tokyo Station

2. Tokyo Metro (Tokyo Subway)

• Ginza Line (銀座線): Tokyo’s oldest subway line (platform at top level)

• Hanzōmon Line (半蔵門線): Connects to Oshiage and Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line

• Fukutoshin Line (副都心線): Connects to Ikebukuro and Tokyu Tōyoko Line

3. Tokyu Corporation (Private Railway)

• Tōyoko Line (東横線): Connects to Yokohama

• Den-en-toshi Line (田園都市線): Connects to Chūō-Rinkan

4. Keio Corporation (Private Railway)

• Keiō Inokashira Line (京王井の頭線): Connects to Kichijōji

Key exits within the station:

• Hachiko Exit: Popular meeting point in front of the Hachiko Statue and Shibuya Scramble Crossing

• Tamagawa Exit: Leads to the west side and Tokyu Department Store (Main Store)

• Central Exit: Near connections to Tokyo Metro and Keio Inokashira Line

• New South Exit: Mainly for Saikyō Line and Shōnan-Shinjuku Line

• Shibuya Scramble Square Exit: Direct connection to the tallest building in the area, featuring shopping, dining, and the SHIBUYA SKY observation deck

Shibuya Station is continually evolving. The Saikyō Line platforms were relocated closer to the Yamanote Line to improve transfers. Surrounding developments include Shibuya Scramble Square and Shibuya Stream, combining retail, restaurants, and leisure spaces. Inside the station, the Hachiko Wall, a large mosaic depicting the loyal dog Hachiko, remains a popular photo spot for travelers worldwide.

• Allow extra time during peak hours (07:30–09:30 & 17:00–19:00) as the station can be very crowded
