“ A small riverside market along the Nakhon Chaisi River offering a complete selection of food, drinks, desserts, and souvenirs. ”

Tha Na Market is located in Nakhon Chaisi Subdistrict, Nakhon Chaisi District, Nakhon Pathom Province. It is a historic riverside community market with a history of over 140 years, offering a peaceful atmosphere along the Nakhon Chaisi River. The area features wooden shophouses and traditional homes, preserving old architecture and local ways of life along the entire market street. Many of the wooden row buildings, over 90 years old, surround the fresh market area. The market is under the supervision of the Crown Property Bureau and has been developed to meet public health quality standards while still preserving its traditional community identity.

The name “Tha Na Market” comes from its historical surroundings, which were once rice fields and “na” (paddy fields), as well as a river port used for transporting goods and rice milling. Its location along the Nakhon Chaisi River made it an important hub for river-based trade and transportation.

The origin of this community dates back to the early Rattanakosin period (reign of King Rama I), when people began settling in the area. Later, during the reign of King Rama V, Tha Na became an important trading community. Wooden two-story buildings were constructed around the market area, which once included an opium den complex in that era, and the famous “Rueaommek Bridge” was built across the river to connect Tha Na with the Ngio Rai area.

Inside the market, visitors can find a wide variety of food, both savory and sweet, such as braised duck, iced desserts, lotus seed sweet soup, and bualoi, as well as local fruits like Nakhon Chaisi pomelo and coconuts. There are also antique shops and many souvenir stores.
