City Pillar Shrine, Ban Mueang Mai, commonly known as the "Thalang City Pillar Shrine," is one of the important religious sites reflecting the historical foundations of Phuket Province. Located in Ban Mueang Mai, Thalang District, this area was once the center of Thalang city before the center of development shifted to present-day Phuket town. Inside the shrine is enshrined the city pillar, a symbol of stability and auspiciousness according to ancient Thai beliefs. Historically, Thalang was crucial to Phuket, particularly during the Ayutthaya and early Rattanakosin periods, when Phuket was a major tin production center and engaged in continuous trade with foreigners. Thalang became the center of administration and defense for the city, as evidenced by significant events such as the Battle of Thalang in 1785, where the townspeople united to defend against Burmese invasion. The City Pillar Shrine thus holds great importance as a focal point of faith and morale for the people in the area for a long time.

• From Phuket Town, take Thep Krasattri Road (Route 402) heading north toward the airport. Upon reaching the Ban Mueang Mai intersection traffic light, turn left into the village. Drive for approximately 1 kilometer, and the shrine will be located on your left side.
