“ Replica of the Kyaiktiyo Pagoda (Golden Rock) viewpoint with natural scenery, featuring Burmese-style sacred objects such as Thao Wessuwan (Tep Thanjai) and Guanyin. ”

Wat Suwannakhiri Pak Chan is a historic Buddhist temple located in Pak Chan Subdistrict, Kra Buri District, Ranong Province, Thailand. It is believed to have been established around 1865 (B.E. 2408) by its first abbot, Luang Pu Nui, who played a key role in laying the foundation of the temple and helping it become a spiritual center for the local community in its early days. The area was historically an important border trade and travel route between Thailand and Myanmar, which has contributed to the temple’s long-standing cultural connection with people from both sides of the border.

The name “Suwannakhiri” means “Golden Mountain,” derived from local legends stating that precious gems and valuable minerals were once discovered in the nearby hills. This story has made the area symbolically significant and contributed to the temple’s identity. The name “Wat Pak Chan” comes from the original name of the local community, which was located near the mouth of a waterway and an important transportation route in the region.

A key highlight of the temple is its blend of Thai and Burmese architectural styles. The main feature is the Phuttha Suwannakhiri Pagoda, an exquisitely designed golden stupa inspired by Myanmar’s Shwedagon Pagoda. It stands prominently on a hill and serves as a landmark of the temple. In addition, there is a replica of the Kyaiktiyo Pagoda (Golden Rock), located at a scenic viewpoint surrounded by mountains and natural landscapes, allowing visitors to experience both spiritual atmosphere and natural beauty.

Inside the temple, there are also various sacred objects that are highly respected by visitors, including Thao Wessuwan (Tep Thanjai) and Guanyin, which are commonly worshipped for blessings and good fortune. Today, Wat Suwannakhiri is not only an important religious site for the local community but also a cultural tourist attraction that beautifully combines history, art, beliefs, and nature, making it one of the key landmarks of Kra Buri District in Ranong Province, Thailand.
