Zytturm or Zug Clock Tower is a historic watchtower and city gate that dates back to the 13th century, originally built as part of the town’s fortifications. In the late 15th century, it was raised to include an observation room and in 1557, it gained its present form with bay windows and steep roof. Its most unique feature is the astronomical calendar clock installed in 1574 by Hans Luterer of Lucerne. The clock displays not only time but also moon phases, day deities, zodiac signs, and leap years. Today, visitors can explore the tower freely by borrowing a key from the Wunderbox gift shop at the base (ID or passport deposit required). From the top, breathtaking 360° views await—spanning the rooftops of Zug, the serene lake, and nearby mountain ranges.

• From Zug train station: 3-minute walk via Bahnhofplatz into Kolinplatz

• By bus: Disembark at Bahnhofplatz or Kolinplatz and walk 3–5 minutes

• By car: Park at old town garages and walk to Kolinplatz

• From Lucerne: Train ride takes around 25 minutes, then short walk
