Gleitschirm Landeplatz Stechelberg is one of the most scenic and reputable paragliding landing zones in Europe, located at the base of the Lauterbrunnen Valley — often nicknamed the “Valley of 72 Waterfalls.” It’s a favored descent point for pilots launching from Mürren, Schilthorn, or Schiltgrat, which range from 2,000 to nearly 3,000 meters in elevation. Flights typically last 20–30 minutes and offer surreal panoramic views of cliffs, meadows, and icy peaks — some pilots even catch thermals and extend their journey.

Its proximity to the Schilthornbahn cable car base makes it highly accessible for both professionals and adventure-seekers. The spacious, grassy field is ideal for safe landings, but pilots must remain alert for overhead power lines and air traffic from Air Glaciers helicopters, which provide emergency and sightseeing services. Prior coordination with the Lauterbrunnental Paragliding Club and Air Glaciers (+41 33 856 05 60) is highly advised to ensure safe navigation in shared airspace.

• By car: Drive from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen, continue into Stechelberg; parking available near the cable car station

• By train: Travel from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen, then take bus 141 to the final stop in Stechelberg 

• Sundays are the safest for flying, with fewer helicopter operations

• Avoid flying during strong mountain/valley winds

• Always check wind conditions and weather reports, and bring a wind meter if possible
