Longxing Monastery is located in Zhengding County, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, China. Founded around 586 AD during the Northern Qi Dynasty, it was originally named Longcang Monastery (龙藏寺) before being renamed Longxing during the Tang Dynasty. With a history spanning over 1,400 years, it is regarded as a “Museum of Buddhist Art from the Song Dynasty” due to its rich collection of wooden carvings, bronze statues, and ancient architecture.
The temple complex covers about 82,500 square meters and consists of numerous halls aligned along a north-south axis. Among its most treasured artifacts is the massive bronze Thousand-Armed Guanyin statue, standing over 21 meters tall, which is one of the largest metal Buddhist statues in northern China.
Designated as one of China’s first national protected cultural relics in 1961 and classified as a 4A-level tourist attraction, Longxing Monastery offers visitors a rare glimpse into traditional Chinese Buddhist art and religious history. The site’s authentic Song Dynasty wooden structures and sculptures remain remarkably intact, providing invaluable insight into ancient craftsmanship.

How to Get There
From Shijiazhuang City:

take local bus routes 131, 132, or 133 directly to the Longxing Temple stop.

from Shijiazhuang Zhengding International Airport (SJW), it takes about 30–40 minutes by car or taxi to reach the monastery.
