“A panoramic wooden terrace with stunning views of Ago Bay, dotted with pearl rafts and scenic islands.”
Yokoyama View Point (横山展望台, Yokoyama Tenbodai) is a celebrated scenic spot in Ise-Shima National Park, offering spectacular views across Ago Bay, a ria coastline famous for its winding inlets, small islands, and shimmering pearl cultivation rafts.
The main deck, known as the “Heavenly Walk” (Tenku no Asobidai), creates the impression of floating over the sea and is ideal for photography and relaxation. Along the walking path, several smaller decks provide different perspectives, rewarding visitors who enjoy light hiking surrounded by peaceful forest scenery.
The Yokoyama Visitor Center features educational exhibits on the region’s natural environment, while a small café allows guests to enjoy local snacks and drinks while admiring the sweeping view. The landscape is especially magical at sunrise, when morning mist hovers above the islands, and at sunset, when the bay glows with golden light.
How to Get There
- From Kintetsu Ugata Station, take a bus for about 10 minutes and get off at “Yokoyama Tenbodai-guchi.” From there, it’s a 20-minute uphill walk to the viewpoint. Travelers arriving by car can park nearby and either walk or take the shuttle to the main deck.
