Klong Root, locally called Klong Nam Sai, is one of Krabi’s most famous natural attractions. Its signature feature is crystal-clear freshwater springing naturally from underground, creating water so transparent that visitors can clearly see fish and aquatic plants below.

The main activity at Klong Root is kayaking. Visitors can rent kayaks and paddle along the canal for about 1 kilometer (roughly 30 minutes), reaching natural spring pools. Along the way, paddlers pass through lush mangrove forests and swamp areas, home to rare plants such as terrestrial orchids and pitcher plants.

The name “Root” (from the southern Thai word “Hruad”) means “slippery” or “slide,” referring to a small weir at the end of the canal where locals and children often slide down into the cool water, making it a playful and memorable experience.

The surrounding area remains pristine, featuring tropical mangroves and rich biodiversity. Additional activities include ATV tours and visiting nearby viewpoints, which can be arranged through local tour operators in Krabi.

Klong Root was used as a filming location in the blockbuster movie Jurassic World Rebirth, attracting fans and tourists who wish to experience the cinematic scenery firsthand.

• From Ao Nang Beach, travel 11–14 kilometers to Nong Thale Subdistrict via main roads, approximately a 20–30 minute drive. The site is accessible by car or motorbike, with parking available near the visitor service point.

• Visit in the morning for the clearest water and cooler temperatures.

• Wear light clothing and bring a waterproof cover or dry bag.

• Watch out for submerged tree stumps while paddling.

• If inexperienced in kayaking, you can hire a guide for 100–150 THB per trip.
