“Observe traditional handmade incense-making process Capture colorful displays of incense sticks arranged like flowers Try making your own incense under local guidance Buy fragrant souvenirs and herbal products Conveniently located near Tu Duc Tomb and the Imperial City of Hue”
Thuy Xuan Incense Village is one of Hue’s oldest and most well-known traditional craft villages, with a history dating back over 700 years. During the Nguyen Dynasty, incense made here was supplied for royal ceremonies and temples throughout the ancient capital.
The villagers craft incense entirely by hand, from mixing natural wood powder, herbs, and essential oils, to shaping and drying each stick under the sun. The colorful circular bundles of incense have become a signature symbol of Thuy Xuan, attracting photographers and travelers alike.
Visitors can explore family workshops, watch the incense-making process up close, and even participate in crafting their own incense under the friendly guidance of local artisans — a memorable way to experience Hue’s cultural soul.
Beyond incense, Thuy Xuan offers a range of traditional handmade products such as herbal oils, aromatic sachets, and decorative crafts made from natural materials. The vivid hues of incense sticks create a visually stunning scene, especially under the bright Hue sunlight.
Located near major attractions like Tu Duc Tomb and the Imperial Citadel, Thuy Xuan Incense Village is a perfect half-day stop to enjoy the scents, colors, and authentic atmosphere of Vietnamese village life.
