“Iconic giant dragon structure in the middle of the lake Abandoned water park overtaken by nature Panoramic view of the lake and forest from the dragon’s mouth A favorite spot for photographers and urban explorers Peaceful yet mysterious atmosphere surrounded by lush greenery”

Thuy Tien Lake was constructed in the early 2000s as part of an ambitious entertainment project in Hue. The park was designed to feature an aquarium, performance areas, and recreational facilities but was left unfinished due to financial and management difficulties.

The highlight of the park is the enormous dragon-shaped building in the middle of the lake, which once housed an aquarium. Over time, nature reclaimed the structure — vines creeping over walls and moss covering the dragon’s scales — creating a surreal scene that fascinates visitors.

Today, Thuy Tien Lake attracts adventure travelers and photographers who seek the eerie beauty of this abandoned site. The combination of decaying architecture and tranquil surroundings gives the place a mysterious yet peaceful charm.

Visitors can climb up inside the dragon’s body to reach its mouth, which offers a panoramic view of the lake and surrounding hills — one of the most photographed spots in Hue. The misty morning and golden-hour light add an extra layer of enchantment to the scene.

Although officially closed, the site remains accessible and lightly maintained by local residents. It has become a symbol of Hue’s changing landscape — where remnants of the past quietly coexist with the beauty of nature and time.
