“Narathiwat City Pillar Shrine, a quadrangular structure with a nine-tiered pagoda-style roof, an octagonal ceiling featuring a zodiac mural, and a city pillar made from golden teak wood from Phrae and Ratchaphruek wood from Narathiwat.”

The Narathiwat City Pillar Shrine is an important spiritual landmark for the people of Narathiwat Province. It was built to commemorate a significant occasion for the province and serves as a center of faith, belief, and culture, reflecting the deep connection between the local community and the history of settlement and city foundation. The shrine was completed in 2023 (B.E. 2566) and was graciously inaugurated under the royal patronage of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen. This historic event brought great pride to local residents and elevated the shrine into one of the province’s key landmarks.

The building is distinguished by its refined marble carvings and symmetrical quadrangular architectural design, symbolizing stability and balance. The roof is decorated with nine pagoda-style spires, representing prosperity and auspiciousness according to Thai beliefs. In addition, the four-sided pavilion-style roof adds grandeur and sacred elegance to the structure. At the entrance, intricately carved granite stairways feature conch shell motifs, which symbolize purity, auspicious beginnings, and good fortune. This reflects the thoughtful integration of artistic craftsmanship and spiritual belief in its design.

Inside the shrine is the beautifully crafted City Pillar, considered the spiritual core of Narathiwat. It serves as a symbolic “pillar of stability,” representing the strength, unity, and peace of the province. It is highly respected and worshipped by locals and visitors who come to pray for success, safety, prosperity, and happiness.Today, the Narathiwat City Pillar Shrine is not only a sacred place of worship but also an important cultural tourism destination.
