“The shrine was newly constructed in 2010 (B.E. 2553) with support from the local community and their faith. It is located on a high hill in an auspicious position, serving as an important symbol of spiritual protection and good fortune for the people of Phatthalung.”

Phatthalung is an ancient city with a long history. However, due to multiple relocations over the years, there had been no clear city pillar or central spiritual site for a long time. In 2010 (B.E. 2553), Governor Vinai Khruwanphat oversaw the construction of a new city pillar shrine, funded by donations from local residents. The shrine was built on a hilltop in an auspicious location. The construction was completed, and His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen officially inaugurated the shrine on November 28, 2020 (B.E. 2563).

The shrine serves as a key spiritual center where residents come to pray for blessings, stability, and prosperity, in line with the ancient belief that a city’s pillar is the dwelling place of guardian spirits. The building is beautifully designed, suitable for its elevated location, and includes a wide courtyard for ceremonies and religious activities. During major festivals, the city pillar shrine hosts events that attract locals and visitors, offering a chance to engage with Phatthalung’s culture and traditions.
