“Redang Island, 45 km off Terengganu’s coast, is a pristine marine paradise known for crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral reefs. Ideal for snorkeling, diving, and kayaking, it’s home to sea turtles and colorful tropical fish. Visitors enjoy white sandy beaches and breathtaking views of the South China Sea.”
Redang Island lies off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia in Terengganu State. It is the largest island in the Redang archipelago and one of Malaysia’s top beach and diving destinations. The surrounding waters have been designated as a Marine Park since 1985 to preserve coral reefs and marine biodiversity.
The island’s underwater scenery includes colorful hard and soft corals, parrotfish, angelfish, clownfish, and even small reef sharks. Several dive sites, such as Tanjung Tokong and Big Mount, attract both beginners and experienced divers.
Visitors can also enjoy snorkeling right from the shore, kayaking along the calm coastline, or relaxing at famous beaches such as Pasir Panjang and Teluk Kalong. Some resorts offer turtle-watching programs and sunset cruises.
During the monsoon season (November – February), most resorts and boat services are closed for safety reasons. The best time to visit is between March and October, when the sea is calm and visibility is excellent.
Redang combines the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation — an idyllic tropical escape surrounded by lush jungle and the turquoise South China Sea.
