The Cenderawasih Bay is exceptionally prominent as part of the 'Bird's Head Seascape' bioregion, serving as a global center for coral diversity. Over 200 endemic fish species have been discovered here. Its unique marvel is being a location where whale sharks can be encountered almost year-round, displaying a behavior distinct from other places by often circling near the fishermen's fish traps (Bagan). Furthermore, several ship and aircraft wrecks from World War II are submerged in this bay, becoming an important historical deep-sea diving site.
