The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, established in 1997, is located in the Cầu Giấy District of Hanoi. It serves as a major center for preserving, researching, and promoting the cultural heritage of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups. The museum features both indoor and outdoor exhibition areas, offering visitors a deep insight into the country’s diverse traditions and lifestyles.

The indoor exhibitions display traditional clothing, musical instruments, agricultural tools, ritual artifacts, and handicrafts, with detailed explanations in Vietnamese, English, and French. Each section vividly portrays the daily life, beliefs, and social structures of various ethnic communities across Vietnam.

The outdoor area is one of the museum’s highlights, showcasing authentic reconstructions of traditional houses such as the longhouse of the Ede, the stilt house of the Ba Na, and the communal house of the Tay. These full-sized replicas were built by skilled artisans from the respective ethnic groups, allowing visitors to experience the authentic atmosphere of traditional villages.
