“A scenic seaside shrine at Saphan Hin cape, highly revered by locals for blessings and safe travels, offering stunning views of Phuket bay and sunsets.”

Phuket Province is home to one of the most significant sacred sites in terms of faith, history, and tourism. Located at the end of Saphan Hin Park, a reclaimed land area that once played a crucial role as a port and a center for tin mining transportation, it has now developed into a public recreational area. This area thus holds both historical economic significance and current social importance.

The shrine was built in dedication to Admiral Prince Chumphon Khet Udomsak, or "Sedet Tia" as he is commonly known, widely regarded as the "Father of the Royal Thai Navy." He played a vital role in laying the foundation for Thailand's modern navy, possessed knowledge of traditional Thai medicine, and is highly respected by both naval personnel and the general public. Even after his death, shrines and memorials have been built throughout the country to commemorate his contributions and sacrifices.

This shrine at Saphan Hin has become a spiritual focal point for the people of Phuket, especially fishermen and those working near the sea, who often visit to pray for safe travels, success, and good fortune in life. Inside the shrine is a statue of him in full naval uniform. The open, seaside atmosphere allows visitors to experience both tranquility and views of Phuket Bay simultaneously.

In addition to its sacredness, The area around the shrine is also a very popular viewpoint, especially in the evening when you can clearly see the sunset over Phuket Bay. The sea breeze and the park area make it a consistently popular relaxation spot for both tourists and locals. Moreover, on important religious days or days related to Prince Chumphon, many people come to pay their respects, creating an atmosphere of faith and vibrancy.

How to Get There
  • From Phuket Old Town, drive south on Phuket Road until you reach the end of the road at Saphan Hin Park. The shrine is located at the furthest point of the cape near the shore. Parking is available within the park grounds.
