Coconut Basket Boat Village (Cam Thanh Fishing Village)  is located just 4–5 kilometers away from the center of Hoi An City. It is an ancient fishing village situated on the edge of a saltwater coconut forest—a large natural wetland with a rich ecosystem that also served as a natural defense line during the Vietnam War.

What makes this village famous are the "Basket Boats" or Thúng Chai—round boats made from bamboo and waterproofed with resin. These boats are used instead of small wooden vessels for fishing within the coconut forest. This type of boat is special because it can spin around, making it unique to the fishermen in the Central region of Vietnam.

Tourists can take a basket boat ride along the small, winding canals amidst the lush green saltwater coconut trees. They can also watch exciting boat-spinning performances by the locals, as well as demonstrations of traditional fishing and crabbing, which offers a genuine glimpse into the local fishing life.

Some tour packages even offer services to try rowing the boat yourself or learning to weave small bamboo boats as souvenirs. Additionally, there are local restaurants along the canal that serve fresh seafood and authentic traditional local dishes.
