“Stretching over 7 kilometers, Dahican Beach is one of Mindanao’s top surfing spots and serves as an important sea turtle conservation area.”
Dahican Beach is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled beaches in Mindanao, located in the coastal city of Mati, Davao Oriental. With its 7-kilometer stretch of soft white sand and crystal-clear blue waters, it has become a haven for beach lovers and nature seekers.
The beach is widely known for its strong but surf-friendly waves, ideal for surfing, skimboarding, and windsurfing. The local surf community, known as the “Amihan Boys,” not only teaches surfing but also promotes marine conservation and protects sea turtles that nest along the beach during certain months of the year.
Beyond water sports, visitors can enjoy camping by the shore, stargazing at night, or watching the spectacular sunrise over the Pacific horizon—one of the most breathtaking sights in Davao Oriental. The calm and rhythmic sound of the waves creates a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere all day long.
There are several small resorts, homestays, and local eateries around Dahican Beach offering freshly caught seafood and authentic coastal cuisine. Visitors can experience both comfort and the simplicity of local seaside life.
Dahican Beach stands as a model for sustainable tourism, where the local community actively participates in preserving its natural beauty. Its combination of adventure, tranquility, and conservation makes it one of the Philippines’ most cherished coastal destinations.
