“A large natural stone bridge formed by thousands of years of water erosion Emerald-green Sohoton River ideal for boat trips and kayaking Multiple limestone caves with unique stalactite formations Rich tropical forest home to local birds and wildlife Peaceful atmosphere perfect for photography and nature lovers”

Sohoton Natural Bridge Park, located in Basey, Samar, is part of the Samar Island Natural Park, one of the Philippines’ most important protected natural areas. The region is characterized by tall limestone mountains, lush greenery, and a winding emerald river that carves through the valley, creating one of the most picturesque landscapes in the country.

The most iconic feature is the Natural Stone Bridge, formed by centuries of water erosion. The enormous rock arch towers above the river, creating a breathtaking natural gateway that visitors can pass under by boat. The limestone cliffs covered with vines and foliage make the area incredibly scenic and photogenic.

Popular activities include kayaking or taking a wooden boat along the Sohoton River. Visitors will pass through towering limestone walls, lush vegetation, and several caves such as Panhulugan Cave, known for its impressive stalactites and stalagmites. The area offers a sense of exploration and adventure that appeals to both nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.

The park is home to various wildlife species, including local birds, bats, and small mammals. Visitors often spend several hours enjoying the peaceful environment, observing the ecosystem, and appreciating the rich biodiversity of the tropical rainforest. The calm river, cool breeze, and natural sounds add to the park’s serene atmosphere.

Travelers are encouraged to wear durable footwear, quick-dry clothing, and bring sunscreen, hats, and drinking water. Following park regulations is essential to protect the fragile natural environment—no littering, no touching cave formations, and respect for wildlife to help preserve the park for future generations.
