“The waterfall is distinguished by its three powerful tiers of cascading water amidst a spectacularly lush jungle environment.”
Bou Sra Waterfall is the jewel of Mondulkiri Province, a region renowned for its high altitude, cool climate, and natural abundance. Located about 43 kilometers from the provincial capital, Sen Monorom, it is a waterfall with a high volume of water and impressive width_, creating a breathtaking curtain of water. The area surrounding the waterfall is full of vibrant green forests and diverse plant life, providing shade and a perfect resting spot.
The waterfall is divided into three tiers. The first tier is approximately 8-12 meters high, and the second tier is about 18-20 meters high. Tourists can descend to view the beauty and take photos at the first and second tiers, especially the second tier which features a large, beautiful pool. This area is a popular spot for swimming and picnicking. However, the third tier is generally discouraged from being accessed due to the difficult path and dense jungle cover.
The most beautiful time to visit Bou Sra Waterfall is during the rainy season, when the water volume is at its peak and flows vigorously. However, for easier access and safer swimming, one might choose the dry season (November to April), when the flow is gentler but still retains its beauty. The area around the waterfall also offers amenities such as seating huts and souvenir shops run by the local indigenous communities.
Beyond its natural beauty, the waterfall area is also home to ethnic cultural villages, offering a great opportunity to learn about the way of life of the Bunong indigenous people who inhabit this region. A visit to Bou Sra Waterfall is thus not just a retreat but also a chance to experience the local culture.
