“An ASEAN Heritage Park rich in biodiversity and lush green forests, offering a breathtaking scenic driving experience along with historical sites and religious structures on the mountain summit.”
Preah Monivong Bokor National Park, commonly known as Bokor National Park, has been designated as an ASEAN Heritage Park, covering an area of over 1,544.58 square kilometers across three provinces in southern Cambodia. The majority of the area consists of tropical rainforest and montane pine forests located on the Elephant Mountains (Krâvanh Mountains). With an altitude of over 1,000 meters above sea level, it enjoys a cool climate and is often shrouded in fog, contrasting sharply with the lowlands.
The park is a diverse hub of interest, encompassing both nature and history. It is home to rare wildlife and various bird species, including endemic flora. Driving up to Bokor Mountain is an impressive experience, as the road is excellently paved and winding along the slopes, allowing visitors to soak in the views of the forest and the sea.
Beyond the historical sites like Bokor Hill Station and the Old Catholic Church, which are major attractions, the park features other points of interest such as the beautiful Popokvil Waterfall, especially during the rainy season, and Wat Sampov Pram, a Buddhist temple constructed in 1924. Several Viewpoints along the ascent are unmissable spots for observing the Gulf of Thailand and Kampot city stretching out below.
