“An immersive museum built on Nintendo’s historic Ogura Plant, blending rare exhibitions, hands-on gameplay, digital integration, and exclusive dining and merchandise.”
The Nintendo Museum officially opened on October 2, 2024, on the site of the former Ogura Plant, a facility deeply revered within the company. This plant was once responsible for producing traditional hanafuda playing cards and later served as a major repair and maintenance center for Nintendo’s game consoles. The location itself represents the bridge between Nintendo’s handcrafted origins and its global technological impact.
Exhibition Zone (2nd Floor)
The second floor presents a comprehensive visual timeline of every product Nintendo has ever released. Exhibits include early toys, card games, handheld devices, and home consoles from every generation. Rare highlights include never-released prototypes, experimental designs, and detailed comparisons showing how game graphics and packaging evolved differently between Japan and Western markets.
Photography is strictly prohibited on this floor.
Interactive Experience (1st Floor)
Upon entry, each visitor receives a pass loaded with 10 digital coins, which are used to access interactive attractions. Importantly, these coins are limited and cannot be purchased or reloaded, meaning visitors must choose activities strategically.
Key attractions include:
-
Big Controller – Cooperative gameplay using oversized NES, SNES, or Wii controllers
-
Ultra Hand & Ultra Machine – Physical play experiences based on Nintendo’s iconic 1960s inventions
-
Zapper & Scope – A large-scale shooting gallery on a giant screen
-
Shigureden – A digital reinterpretation of the traditional Hyakunin Isshu poetry card game
In addition, visitors can link their admission ticket to a Nintendo Account, creating a personalized digital profile that records game scores and stores photos taken inside the museum, extending the experience beyond the visit itself.
