“A massive art park designed as one complete sculpture, where the entire landscape is a masterpiece by Isamu Noguchi.”
Moerenuma Park is a large-scale Land Art masterpiece covering approximately 189 hectares, designed by internationally renowned sculptor Isamu Noguchi. His core philosophy, “the entire park is a single sculpture,” is expressed through carefully shaped landforms, architectural elements, and open spaces that blend seamlessly with nature.
Key highlights within the park include:
-
Hidamari Glass Pyramid: The park’s iconic landmark. This glass pyramid houses exhibitions on Isamu Noguchi’s life and works, along with relaxing indoor spaces filled with natural sunlight.
-
Mt. Moere: A 62-meter-high artificial mountain and the highest viewpoint in Higashi Ward, offering spectacular 360-degree panoramic views of Sapporo.
-
Sea Fountain: A dynamic fountain performance symbolizing the “power of the ocean,” with water jets reaching up to 25 meters high (operates from late April to mid-October, about 3–4 shows per day).
-
Forest of Cherry Trees: A cherry blossom zone with over 1,600 sakura trees, combined with artistically designed playground equipment scattered throughout the area.
Moerenuma Park can be enjoyed year-round, transforming beautifully with each season—from cherry blossoms in spring and lush greenery in summer to autumn foliage and expansive snow fields in winter.
How to Get There
-
Subway: Take the Toho Line (Blue Line) to Kanjo-Dori-Higashi Station (H05)
-
Bus: Transfer to Chuo Bus Higashi 69 or Higashi 79

-
In winter, buses stop only at Higashiguchi.
