“A scenic viewpoint over Vajiralongkorn Dam Reservoir, featuring romantic sunsets, morning mist, and a peaceful riverside camping area surrounded by mountains.”

Pom Pee Viewpoint(Pom Pee Viewpoint) is an important natural tourism site within Khao Laem National Park, distinguished by its unique geography as a peninsula extending into Vajiralongkorn Dam Reservoir. This creates a panoramic landscape where visitors can clearly see the vast water surface combined with the complex mountain ranges of the Western Forest complex.

In terms of geology, the area is part of the Tenasserim mountain range, formed by tectonic uplift and natural erosion processes over time. Later, the construction of Vajiralongkorn Dam transformed the valley into a large reservoir, creating a new ecosystem that combines a vast freshwater lake with surrounding tropical evergreen forests that remain highly fertile and rich in biodiversity.

Pom Pee plays an important role as a transition zone between forest ecosystems and freshwater habitats, serving as a habitat for a variety of wildlife such as water birds, forest birds, and small mammals, including rare species found in the Western Forest complex. Visitors often experience the sound of nature and bird activity, especially in the early morning.

One of the most remarkable features of this area is the natural phenomenon that changes throughout the day. In the morning, mist rises above the water surface due to temperature differences between air and water, creating a low-lying sea of mist. In the evening, sunset light reflects in golden, orange, and red tones across the reservoir, creating a highly photogenic and romantic atmosphere.

For camping tourism, Pom Pee is considered one of the most popular lakeside campsites in Kanchanaburi Province. The area is well-organized into riverside zones and grassy hillside zones, equipped with essential facilities such as clean restrooms, washing areas, a small convenience shop, and partial lighting systems.

There are also wooden walkways and scenic viewpoints along the reservoir, allowing visitors to walk, relax, and take photos along the lakeside. The sunset views from these points are especially stunning, making it a favorite spot for photographers and nature lovers traveling along the Thong Pha Phum – Sangkhla Buri route.

During the winter season, the area experiences cool weather with frequent morning fog, while the rainy season brings lush green forests and higher water levels that fully fill the reservoir, enhancing the landscape. In summer, although temperatures are warmer, the breeze from the water helps keep the area relatively comfortable.

In terms of conservation, Khao Laem National Park enforces strict environmental management, including campsite zoning, visitor control during peak periods, and waste management systems to preserve ecological balance and maintain the peaceful atmosphere of the area.

Overall, Pom Pee Viewpoint is not just a scenic viewpoint but a place that combines ecosystem diversity, natural beauty, and peaceful lakeside recreation, making it ideal for travelers seeking tranquility and close contact with nature.
