“Explore Australia's oldest cathedral, featuring magnificent Gothic Revival architecture and stunning stained glass windows within Sydney's historic city center.”

St Andrew's Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral located next to Sydney Town Hall and above Town Hall train station. It serves as the main center of the Diocese of Sydney and is the seat of the Archbishop of Sydney. Besides religious services, it hosts important city ceremonies, state events, concerts, and community activities.

The cathedral was founded in 1819 and officially consecrated in 1868. The Chapter House building was constructed in 1886 before undergoing major restoration between 1999–2000. It is currently recognized as the oldest cathedral in Australia.

The building is constructed from Sydney sandstone in the Gothic Revival style, featuring pointed arches, towers, pinnacles, and stained glass windows depicting stories from the Bible. Inside, it boasts tall stone columns, a decorated timber ceiling, intricately patterned tile floors, and a large pipe organ.

The cathedral is also renowned for the St Andrew's Cathedral Choir, a boys' and men's choir that performs during weekday services and Sunday mornings. It has a close relationship with St Andrew’s Cathedral School, founded to train the cathedral's choristers. The interior atmosphere is peaceful, ideal for admiring the architecture, resting, and finding tranquility amidst Sydney's business district.
