“A temperate plant research centre with Doi Luang Chiang Dao views, a popular birdwatching and nature photography spot.”

Chiang Dao Royal Agricultural Research Centre is a research centre for horticulture and highland agriculture under the Department of Agriculture. It was established to study, research, develop, and transfer knowledge on cultivating temperate plants, fruit trees, and economic crops suitable for the northern region's topography, while also supporting the sustainable livelihoods of local farmers.

Inside the centre, various plants are cultivated and experimented with, such as persimmons, plums, coffee, macadamias, avocados, temperate vegetables, and ornamental plants. This includes studying varieties, improving breeds, and cultivation techniques suitable for highland climates. Visitors can stroll through neatly arranged demonstration plots and learn about agricultural development alongside natural resource conservation.

Another highlight that makes this place popular is the magnificent Doi Luang Chiang Dao view, which can be fully seen from the open area in front of the centre without any obstructing buildings. It has become a popular photography spot, especially during the cool season when the sky is clear and temperate flowers are in bloom, creating an exceptionally beautiful atmosphere. There is also a pond, a lawn, and pine trees that add to the charm of the surrounding landscape.

The centre's area is also an important birdwatching and nature study site in Chiang Dao District, as it is surrounded by green spaces and close to the Doi Luang Chiang Dao Wildlife Sanctuary. Both resident and migratory birds can be observed throughout the year, especially in the early morning. It is suitable for birdwatchers, nature photographers, and those seeking peaceful relaxation.

Beyond its tourist value, the Chiang Dao Royal Agricultural Research Centre is an important learning centre for highland agriculture in Thailand, offering students, researchers, farmers, and tourists the opportunity to experience horticultural knowledge alongside the beautiful nature of Doi Luang Chiang Dao in one place.
