“A natural mineral hot spring surrounded by mountains, featuring clean mineral water, a peaceful atmosphere, and private soaking rooms for health and relaxation.”
Pong Ang Hot Springs is located within Pha Daeng National Park in Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province. It is a natural hot spring formed when underground water is heated by geothermal layers beneath the earth before emerging to the surface as warm mineral water. The temperature is ideal for relaxing and relieving physical fatigue. The national park has developed the area in an orderly manner with separate foot-soaking pools, bathing pools, shower facilities, and a continuous mineral water circulation system that helps maintain cleanliness, allowing visitors to enjoy the hot spring safely and comfortably.
One of the distinctive characteristics of the mineral water here is its mild sulfur scent, which is not overpowering, making it pleasant for visitors to soak in. The water temperature is suitable for stimulating blood circulation, relieving muscle fatigue, and promoting overall relaxation. Although it is not a medical treatment facility, soaking in the natural mineral water has become a popular wellness activity for both Thai and international visitors seeking a relaxing experience in nature.
Pong Ang Hot Springs is also a popular stop for travelers visiting Doi Luang Chiang Dao, Ban Arunothai, Doi Kham Fa, Chiang Dao Cave, and other attractions throughout Chiang Dao District. Many visitors stop here to soothe tired muscles after hiking or sightseeing. The surrounding area is shaded by large trees and rich natural forest, providing cool weather throughout most of the year. During the cool season, the contrast between the warm mineral water and the crisp mountain air creates a particularly memorable atmosphere.
Within the hot spring area, visitors can enjoy private hot spring rooms (Private Rooms) designed for individuals, families, or groups seeking greater privacy. Additional facilities include rest pavilions, restrooms, shower rooms, a welfare shop selling food and beverages, spacious parking areas, and national park staff who provide assistance and ensure visitor safety throughout operating hours. The site is suitable for both day trips and relaxing breaks while traveling along the Chiang Dao–Fang route.
The best time to visit is from November to February, when the weather is cool and the surrounding forest is lush and green. However, Pong Ang Hot Springs is open throughout the year. Visitors are advised to soak for 15–20 minutes per session, then rest before soaking again and drink plenty of water to ensure the greatest health benefits and a safe soaking experience.
