Replica of the Buddha's Footprint

The Replica of the Buddha's Footprint is a significant sacred object and the origin of the name "Wat Phra Bat" (before merging into Wat Phra Bat Ming Muang Worawihan). It is enshrined within an ancient open pavilion near the Ming Muang Stupa. This footprint is a masterpiece of Lanna craftsmanship, intricately carved with 108 auspicious symbols representing the Great Man's characteristics in Buddhist cosmology. Historically, the site where this footprint was discovered was considered a sacred spot by the rulers and vice-roy of Phrae, who established the temple over it to serve as a center for merit-making and a spiritual anchor for the city.
