Bala Shark / Silver Shark

The Bala Shark, also known as the Silver Shark, has a sleek, shark-like profile, which gives it its common name. Its body is covered in shimmering silver scales, but its most striking features are the dorsal, anal, and caudal fins, which are edged with a bold black band and white trim, resembling "burnt" edges. Despite its shark-like appearance, it belongs to the Cyprinidae (minnow/carp) family. It is a peaceful, active swimmer and remains a favorite among aquarium enthusiasts globally. In aquariums, they are often displayed to highlight the beauty of the species alongside its rarer relatives.
