The Genkan (Grand Entrance) is the palace's architectural crown jewel, featuring a massive Karahafu (curved gable) and an Irimoya (hip-and-gable) roof. Its grand scale, supported by thick 24cm pillars, was designed to accommodate the Shogun’s palanquins. This iconic facade symbolized the prestige of the Kawagoe Domain and served as the exclusive entry point for high-ranking lords.
