“The scenery is beautiful and peaceful, especially the corner of the lonely tree and the heart-shaped wooden bridge/walkway by the reservoir, which is a popular photo spot that gives a romantic atmosphere and resembles a grassland in a foreign country.”

Sai Sorn Reservoir, originally named Mosingto Reservoir, is situated at the heart of Khao Yai National Park, a globally recognized natural World Heritage Site. This reservoir was constructed in 1981 with the primary goal of establishing a crucial water source for consumption within the park boundaries and, more significantly, serving as a vital water source for the local wildlife. The reservoir was later renamed in honor of Mr. Boonruang Sai Sorn, the first chief of Khao Yai National Park.

The surrounding area boasts diverse and stunning scenery. The banks of the reservoir are characterized by a wide, open expanse covered with lush, well-maintained green slopes, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of meadows in Europe or other temperate regions, particularly during the cooler or rainy seasons. This open layout makes the area ideal for light recreational activities such as having a relaxing picnic, taking a leisurely stroll to enjoy the cool breeze, and soaking in the panoramic views of the mountains that embrace the water body.

Beyond its scenic beauty, Sai Sorn Reservoir is also an excellent location for wildlife observation within the park. Especially during the early morning hours before sunrise and the late evening hours before sunset, visitors have a high chance of spotting various animals, such as deer (both wild deer and sambar), coming down to drink and graze along the banks. This is a highly cherished experience for nature enthusiasts. Visiting during these golden hours is, therefore, extremely popular.

In terms of ecotourism, Sai Sorn Reservoir acts as a rest stop or starting point for some of the park's shorter nature trails (it is advisable to inform and consult with park rangers first). However, most visitors come here primarily for photography, focusing on highly recognizable compositions such as the solitary tree standing majestically by the water and the wooden walkway extending over the water. All these features contribute to Sai Sorn Reservoir being celebrated as one of the most beautiful and romantic sunset viewing spots in Khao Yai.
