Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam The structure and characteristics of Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam consists of a main dam and a secondary dam constructed with crushed concrete. Currently, it is the longest compressed concrete dam in the world with a total length of 2,720 meters (maximum) 93 meters, receiving water flowing from Khao Yai National Park through Wen Waterfall into the reservoir. It has a capacity of 224 million cubic meters.This has resulted in water for agriculture, consumption, the solution of sour soil problems. It is a breeding ground for fish and flood relief. It is Nakhon Nayok's new tourist attraction.

Visitors can see Khao Yai National Park from the dam's ridge, see the scenery in front of the dam, and see Nakhon Nayok behind the dam. In the future, there will be a project to build Khaeng Thiam International Slalom Stadium, which will generate tourism activities and generate income for tourism entrepreneurs.  Tourism of Nakhon Nayok Province has increased. Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam is open to tourists to see the view above the dam ridge. You can see Nakhon Nayok City and Khao Yai National Park at the dam's ridge. You can also rent a long-tailed boat to see the waterfall deep into the dam's reservoir.


How to Get There
  • Private Car: Take Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok Road (Highway 305) into Nakhon Nayok city. Then, take Road 3049 heading towards Nang Rong Waterfall. Before reaching the waterfall, there is a clear signposted left turn leading to the dam.

  • Public Transport: Take a minivan or public bus from Bangkok to Nakhon Nayok Bus Terminal. Then, take a Songthaew (shared taxi) or hire a private taxi to the dam.


Travel Tips
  • Travel Planning: The boat trip to Khao Chong Lom is very popular. Allow sufficient time for the boat trip (about 1.5 - 2 hours) and inquire about prices and schedules in advance.
  • Footwear and Equipment: Use comfortable walking shoes for strolling on the dam crest, and if taking a boat trip, prepare a hat and sunglasses.
  • Photography and Sightseeing: The dam crest is the main viewpoint for panoramic photography. It is recommended to visit in the early morning or late afternoon for the best light.
