Tha Thung Na Dam is a dam within the Greater Kwae River Basin system that plays an important role in regulating water released from Srinakarin Dam before it flows downstream. Rather than serving as a massive water storage dam, it mainly functions as a “water balancing dam” that helps stabilize water flow along the river system.The dam was designed as a diversion and small-scale hydroelectric dam. Water flowing through the system is directed to spin turbines and generate additional electricity before being released back into the river naturally.
