“Admire the "Pointed Arch Doors and Windows," a distinct architectural signature popular during the reign of King Narai the Great, and explore the "Ancient Ubosot" ruins with walls still largely intact.”

Bandai Hin Temple is an abandoned ancient temple with a long historical background in Lopburi Province. It is believed to have been constructed during the reign of King Narai the Great, around the 23rd Buddhist century. This assumption is based on the architectural style, which clearly reflects a blend of traditional Thai and Western influences, especially in the pointed arch-shaped doors and windows resembling lotus petals. Such designs are commonly found in monuments built during the period when Lopburi served as the second capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom.

Although only ruins remain today, the surviving structures still reveal the former elegance and grandeur of the temple. Within the temple grounds, remnants of a vihara with partially standing walls can be seen, along with a large square-based chedi with recessed corners located behind it. This chedi has been restored and preserved by the Fine Arts Department, ensuring the site remains stable and suitable for historical study.

Beyond its architectural value, Bandai Hin Temple is also well known among amulet collectors. The temple is the excavation site of the famous Phra Nak Prok, Bandai Hin Temple crypt amulet, made of silver alloy. This amulet is regarded as one of the most revered sacred objects of Lopburi, believed to possess powers of authority, invulnerability, and protection, earning the temple lasting respect among devotees and collectors alike.

The atmosphere of Bandai Hin Temple is quiet, solemn, and mystical. Although it is located close to a busy railway station, once visitors step into the ancient site, they often feel as if time has stood still. The old brickwork and remaining stucco details vividly narrate the historical transitions of Siam, making the temple feel like an open-air museum rich in both spiritual and academic value.

For history enthusiasts traveling to Lopburi by train, Bandai Hin Temple is one of the most accessible first stops. Visitors can spend just 5–10 minutes exploring the ancient remains before continuing on to the nearby Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat, another magnificent and important historical landmark of Lopburi.
