“The Sakon Nakhon Historical Learning Center offers nine exhibition zones, allowing visitors to experience the lifestyles of eight ethnic groups, view wax figures of famous Buddhist monks, and be amazed by a planetarium—all in one place.”

Managed by the Sakon Nakhon Provincial Administrative Organization, the Phu Phan Museum serves as a comprehensive learning center that consolidates the province's unique identity into a single destination. The museum employs modern presentation techniques, utilizing light, color, and sound to illustrate a continuous historical timeline spanning millions of years. This journey begins in the prehistoric era with the discovery of dinosaur fossils and ancient footprints in the Phu Phan Mountains, extending through the founding of Sakon Nakhon, which is deeply intertwined with the legends of Nong Han Lake and the ancient Khmer civilization.

Inside, the exhibition zones are systematically organized, with a major highlight being the portrayal of Sakon Nakhon’s diverse ethnic groups. The museum showcases the "8 Tribes" (Thai Lao, Thai Nyaw, Thai Yoy, Thai Phutai, Thai Kha, Thai Kaleung, Thai So, and Thai Saek) and the "2 Nationalities" (Thai-Chinese and Thai-Vietnamese). Through realistic dioramas, traditional house models, and authentic costumes, the exhibition captures the ancestral roots and cultural heritage of these communities, demonstrating how diverse groups live together in harmony.

Another profoundly impactful section is the "Dhamma Room," which features life-like wax sculptures of revered forest tradition monks and meditation masters of the Northeast, such as Luang Pu Mun Bhuridatta and Luang Pu Fan Ajaro. The atmosphere is designed to be serene and realistic, reinforcing Sakon Nakhon’s reputation as a "City of Dhamma." Furthermore, the museum pays tribute to the royal grace of King Rama IX and the Royal Family, highlighting their dedication to the people of Sakon Nakhon through various Royal Development Projects.

The museum complex also houses the "Planetarium Building," a significant astronomical education hub for the Upper Northeast. Equipped with modern star projectors and interactive science exhibits, the Phu Phan Museum transcends the traditional role of a storehouse for the past. It is a vibrant public space that seamlessly blends history, culture, and science, making it an ideal destination for visitors of all ages.
