Sapporo TV Tower (さっぽろテレビ塔, Sapporo Terebi-tō) stands 147.2 meters tall and was completed in 1957 by architect Tachū Naitō, the same designer behind Tokyo Tower. Originally serving as a TV and radio broadcasting tower, it now functions as both a communication relay and a major tourist attraction.

Observation Deck and Views:

The main observation deck is located 90.38 meters above ground, offering panoramic views of Ōdōri Park, the surrounding mountains, and the organized city layout. The scenery is particularly stunning at sunset and at night when the city lights up.

Role in Major Festivals:

• Sapporo Snow Festival (February): The best vantage point for viewing large illuminated snow and ice sculptures.

• White Illumination (December–March): Offers breathtaking views of Ōdōri Park decorated with sparkling lights.

• YOSAKOI Soran Festival (June): Provides a comprehensive view of the festival grounds and energetic dancers.

Facilities:

The base of the tower houses restaurants and souvenir shops, including unique TV Tower merchandise and the popular mascot Tawakkuru (TV-Kuru).

• Subway: Get off at Ōdōri Station (大通駅), Exit 27, and follow signs to the tower base.

• Streetcar: Get off at Nishi 4-chōme (西4丁目) and walk through Ōdōri Park to reach the tower.

• Visit the observation deck in the evening for sunset and city illumination views.
