“Enjoy cooling off in clear natural pools that are safe and not too deep, while relaxing and dining by the stream surrounded by the soothing sound of flowing water and a peaceful village atmosphere.”
Wang Lung Waterfall commonly known among visitors as Song Rak Waterfall, is a charming and simple natural retreat located in Thon Hong Subdistrict, Phrom Khiri District. The surrounding area is rich in fruit orchards and pristine headwater forests fed by the Khao Luang mountain range. The stream flows gently over rocks and wide stone slabs, forming a series of small and large pools along its course.
One of the waterfall’s most distinctive features is its safety, as the current is not strong and most pools are shallow, making it especially suitable for children and families. The area is shaded by large trees whose branches stretch over the stream, keeping the walking paths and resting spots cool throughout the day.
Along both sides of the stream, local villagers operate small eateries serving Isan dishes, som tam, grilled chicken, and flavorful local food. Visitors often sit together on wooden platforms by the water, enjoying their meals while soaking their feet in the refreshing stream. Walking further upstream leads to quieter and more private swimming spots.
The waterfall is closely connected to the lifestyle of the Song Rak community, which takes pride in maintaining cleanliness and preserving the natural environment. During the fruit season from July to September, the access road is lined with high-quality mangosteens and durians from local orchards.
For photography enthusiasts, the moss-covered rocks and gently flowing water between stone crevices perfectly capture the lush and refreshing character of Phrom Khiri. Access to the waterfall is very convenient, with paved roads leading directly to the site and spacious parking areas available.
Often praised for its crystal-clear, mirror-like water and refreshing coolness, Wang Lung Waterfall is an ideal stop for travelers exploring the Phrom Khiri – Nopphitam – Tha Sala route. Whether visiting to swim, relax, or simply enjoy a quiet moment by the water, the natural simplicity and warm hospitality of Song Rak Village leave a lasting impression on every visitor.
