“Admire the royal monograms “P.P.R.” and “S.K.” carved into the rock face at the first tier, and enjoy swimming in emerald-green pools so clear that fish are visible beneath the surface.”

Phrom Lok Waterfall is one of the most iconic and beloved natural attractions in Nakhon Si Thammarat, located within Khao Luang National Park. The waterfall is renowned for its expansive limestone terraces and powerful, consistently flowing streams throughout the year. Although Phrom Lok Waterfall consists of more than 50 tiers, four main levels are easily accessible to the public: Nan Soi Dao, Nan Wang Nam Won, Nan Wang Mai Pak, and Nan Wang Hua Bua.

The first tier, Nan Soi Dao, holds significant historical value as the site visited by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, who traveled here in 1959. Their royal monograms were carved into the rock face during the visit and remain clearly visible today, making this spot both culturally and historically meaningful.

The water at Phrom Lok Waterfall is exceptionally clean and clear, forming deep pools with a striking emerald-green hue that invites visitors to cool off and relax. The surrounding area is embraced by lush tropical rainforest, with towering trees providing shade along the stream. The broad rock platforms allow visitors to spread out comfortably, making the area ideal for relaxation or picnics without feeling crowded, even on busy days.

Unlike many seasonal waterfalls, Phrom Lok maintains a steady flow even during the dry season. The air here is fresh and cool year-round, creating a refreshing escape from daily life. The national park staff manage the area carefully, with well-defined and safe walking paths. The waterfall is also home to a large population of mahseer fish, which can often be seen swimming gracefully in the clear pools.

As you venture higher upstream, the atmosphere becomes increasingly peaceful and secluded, offering sweeping views of the majestic Khao Luang mountain range. Phrom Lok Waterfall perfectly blends natural beauty, historical significance, and local leisure culture into one destination. The sound of cascading water echoes the life-giving power of nature that has sustained the people of Nakhon Si Thammarat for generations.

How to Get There
  • By Private Car: From Nakhon Si Thammarat city, take Highway No. 4016 toward Phrom Khiri for approximately 20 kilometers. At Phrom Lok Junction, turn left onto Highway No. 4132 and continue to the end of the road, where you will reach the national park office and Phrom Lok Waterfall.
  • By Public Transport: Take a white songthaew (shared taxi) on the Nakhon Si Thammarat–Phrom Lok route from the city bus terminal. The vehicle stops directly at the waterfall entrance, making it very convenient.
