“Experience the refreshing sight of water cascading from a high rocky cliff, splashing against large boulders and creating a cool mist in the surrounding forest.”
Sai Rung Waterfall, also locally known as “Pak Weep Waterfall,” is one of the charming natural attractions in the Khao Lak area of Phang Nga Province. Although it is not a large waterfall, it stands out for its dramatic rocky cliff where water gently cascades down in layers. During the rainy season, the water flow becomes stronger and spreads across the rock face, creating a more impressive and lively scene.
The area around the waterfall is surrounded by lush tropical rainforest, providing plenty of shade and a relaxing atmosphere. The sounds of birds, insects, and flowing water create a peaceful natural setting that allows visitors to unwind and reconnect with nature.
One of the reasons Sai Rung Waterfall is popular among travelers is its easy accessibility. It is located only a few minutes from the main Phetkasem Road and the hotel areas of Khao Lak. The walking path from the parking area to the waterfall is short and relatively flat, making it accessible for visitors of all ages.
At the base of the waterfall lies a clear natural pool that is not too deep, making it suitable for swimming and cooling off. Visitors can also relax on the large rocks near the water, enjoy a picnic, or simply sit and take in the fresh forest air.
The name “Sai Rung,” meaning “rainbow,” comes from the fine mist created when the water hits the rocks. When sunlight shines through the mist at the right angle, a small rainbow can often be seen forming above the water, adding a magical touch to the scenery. Visiting Sai Rung Waterfall is therefore a wonderful addition to a Khao Lak trip, combining the beauty of the sea with the tranquility of the rainforest.
