“Pay respect to the incorruptible body of Por Than Klai Wajasit for good fortune and blessings, and admire the graceful beauty of the That Noi Chedi, a prominent religious landmark of the region.”

Wat That Noi, commonly known as Wat Por Than Klai, is one of the most significant spiritual destinations in Southern Thailand. The temple was established following the wishes of Por Than Klai Wajasit, who intended the site to house a sacred chedi enshrining relics of the Lord Buddha, inspired by the architectural style of the Phra Borommathat Chedi in Nakhon Si Thammarat city. The chedi stands majestically within the spacious temple grounds, symbolizing faith and devotion.

The temple complex is clearly organized into four main zones, each serving a specific religious and social function.

  • The Dharma and Sangha residence areas are dedicated to meditation and house the monks' living quarters for their monastic activities and retreats.
  • The community service area features a self-reliant school to promote education and improve quality of life based on the sufficiency economy concept.
  • The public benefit area offers ten rental rooms for those seeking accommodation for extended stays during meditation retreats and religious pilgrimages, reflecting the temple's multifaceted role as a religious center, an educational hub, and a community care center.

The most revered feature of the temple is the incorruptible body of Por Than Klai, preserved in a glass coffin inside the chedi. His body remains remarkably intact, strengthening the faith of devotees nationwide. Por Than Klai is widely known for his Wajasit, the belief that his words carried sacred power and often manifested as truth. Throughout the temple grounds, visitors will find statues and wax figures of Por Than Klai in various postures, serving as reminders of his teachings and spiritual discipline.

The atmosphere at Wat That Noi is serene yet vibrant with devotion. Worshippers frequently visit to pray, fulfill vows, and seek blessings, particularly for health, prosperity, and career success. An annual memorial ceremony marking Por Than Klai’s passing attracts tens of thousands of devotees each year. Today, Wat That Noi stands not only as a place of worship but also as a spiritual and cultural heart of Nakhon Si Thammarat.
