“Experience paradise on earth at Bileh Bay, where fine white sand contrasts beautifully with crystal-clear emerald-green waters. Cruise through a narrow limestone passage by long-tail boat into the lagoon.”
Hong Island, known locally as Koh Lao Bileh, is a precious gem that perfectly represents the natural wonders of the Andaman Sea. Among all the islands in Krabi Province, Hong Island stands out with its unique geographical structure, featuring limestone mountains rising prominently from the sea and enclosing beaches and waters within like a natural castle. The most memorable charm of this island is its sense of mystery and discovery, while also offering relaxation and beauty in every square inch.
The most beautiful image of Hong Island begins at Bileh Bay, a stretch of beach with soft, powder-like white sand curving along crystal-clear waters where schools of fish can be seen swimming around with remarkable clarity. However, the main attraction that draws travelers from around the world is the “Hong Lagoon,” a geological phenomenon where seawater is enclosed by steep limestone cliffs on all sides. As a boat passes through the narrow opening into the lagoon, the outside world seems to disappear, leaving only the stillness of emerald-green water and the sound of birds echoing through the cliffs. The atmosphere is enchanting, resembling a hidden land from a fairy tale.
The uniqueness of Hong Island today also includes being one of the most beautiful elevated viewpoints in Thailand. The construction of the 360-degree viewpoint leading to the mountaintop allows visitors to see a bird’s-eye view of the “island forest,” or the limestone islands of Phang Nga Bay and Krabi, arranged in complex layers across the vast blue sea. Visiting Hong Island is therefore not simply a beach holiday, but a journey to absorb the immense and pure energy of nature. It is an experience that combines challenge, admiration for nature, and beauty that remains unforgettable.
